As part of their solidarity visit to Israel, Republican members of the U.S. Congress Marlin Stutzman and Abe Hamadeh visited the Western Wall this morning (Wednesday) for a visit of support and prayer.
The delegation was welcomed by Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, rabbi of the Western Wall and holy sites, and by Mordechai (Suli) Eliav, director of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, who explained to them the history and significance of the Western Wall to the Jewish people throughout the generations. They also thanked them for the unwavering support of the United States for the State of Israel and the Jewish people, especially during this time.
The rabbi recited a special prayer together with the members of the delegation for the peace of both nations and for the continued success of the friendship between the peoples and countries. They also placed prayer notes between the stones of the Western Wall.
The delegation later toured the Western Wall Tunnels and the new immersive presentation, “The Gateway to Heaven”, which was recently opened to visitors at the Western Wall. They concluded their visit by signing the guest book with the message: “Prayer for the peace of Jerusalem…May the Jewish people remain strong forever!”
