As part of his official visit to Israel, and following the inauguration of Colombia’s embassy in Jerusalem, Colombian Foreign Minister Omar Bula Escobar arrived at the Western Wall earlier today for a visit and prayer.
During the visit, the minister received an overview of the Western Wall’s rich history and its significance to the Jewish people as a place of prayer, hope, and longing throughout the generations.
The foreign minister offered a personal prayer, placed a note between the stones of the Western Wall, and prayed for the well-being and prosperity of Israel and Colombia, for peace for the Jewish people, and for peace in the Middle East. He also toured the Western Wall Tunnels.
At the conclusion of his visit, the minister wrote in the visitors’ book:
“This is the most sublime and profound moment of my existence. I can only thank you for this treasure you have bestowed upon me – life!”
