During his visit to Israel yesterday (Wednesday), Mosab Hassan Yousef, known as “The Green Prince” – the son of one of Hamas’s founders who later renounced the movement – came to the Western Wall for a visit and prayer, accompanied by MK Ohad Tal.
Yousef, who in the past cooperated with Israeli security forces and helped prevent terror attacks, is today regarded as a prominent international figure in the fight against terrorism and a sharp critic of Hamas. In recent years, he has lived outside Israel and has been active in the public and media arenas, promoting dialogue and peace between peoples.
During the visit, “The Green Prince” met with the rabbi of the Western Wall and holy sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, in his office. In their conversation, Yousef shared his feelings about Hamas’s barbarism and violence against Israel and the Jewish people, saying he believes it is deeply important to publicly condemn acts of murder and inhumanity committed in the name of religion.
Rabbi Rabinowitz thanked him for his courageous stance and warm support for Israel, saying: “Your honest and hopeful voice is a true ray of light amid the darkness. We believe that your voice will, in time, become the voice of the sane and peace-seeking Muslim world.”
