Chairman of the U.S. Military Lebanon Mechanism, Lieutenant General Clearfield, during his visit to the Western Wall:
“We will disarm Hezbollah, God willing.”

Upon taking office, on Friday, the senior U.S. military representative in Lebanon and chairman of the joint mechanism between Israel and Lebanon, Lieutenant General Joseph Clearfield, arrived for a visit and prayer at the Western Wall.

He was welcomed by the rabbi of the Western Wall and holy sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, who explained to him the significance of this sacred place for the Jewish people as a center of prayer, hope, and yearning throughout the generations.

The rabbi thanked the lieutenant general for his steadfast and determined support for the State of Israel and for the actions of the U.S. government under President Trump in combating and dismantling Hezbollah.

During the visit, they prayed together for the success of the armies of Israel and the United States, for the safety of the soldiers and security forces, for the return of the hostages and the fallen, and for peace in the State of Israel and the United States.

During the visit, the lieutenant general wrote in the visitors’ book:
Thank you & may God bless you.
He prayed for a stern struggle because he knew wisdom was mightier than all else.
We will disarm Hezbollah
God willing.

The lieutenant general also toured the new Gateway to Heaven exhibit, which recently opened to the public, as well as the new excavations beneath the Western Wall Plaza, where he was shown impressive archaeological findings from the Second Temple period, uncovered during the ongoing work at the site.
