Bat Mitzvah Celebration for Holocaust Survivors at the Western Wall

A moving Bat Mitzvah ceremony for Holocaust survivors from Hertzliya and Netanya was held today at the Western Wall. The Bat Mitzvah celebration for Holocaust survivors is an initiative of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation and takes place thanks to the cooperation of Minister Gila Gamliel and the Ministry for Social Equality, as well as various municipalities around Israel. This program brings together groups of senior citizens who survived the horrors of the Holocaust at the time of their Bat Mitzvahs. Years later, they now have the opportunity to celebrate at the Western Wall surrounded by family, just as every child of that age.

At the emotional ceremony the women participated in a beautiful, festive prayer ceremony. After sharing stories of their difficult experiences in the years of the Holocaust, they went down to the Western Wall Prayer Plaza accompanied by family, IDF soldiers, and volunteers who take part in this unique event.

The Western Wall Heritage Foundation is honored and proud to host this special program.

Emerging from the ark into an empty yet liberating world, the dove embodies the yearning for self-reliance and divine trust. The message resonates today with the joy of those released from captivity — stepping once more into the paradise of freedom after deep suffering.
