Tears of pride at the Western Wall: Lior, whose heroic father was killed in battle on October 7th, celebrates her bat mitzvah.

Lior, who lost her father, a policeman who was murdered on October 7th, arrived to celebrate an emotional Bat Mitzvah at the Western Wall.

We were moved to accompany and host the Abuharon family, who came to the Western Wall for the Bat Mitzvah celebration of their sweet daughter Lior, who lost her father Roni, a brave police officer from the Rahat station, who fought courageously in the city of Ofakim on the morning of October 7th and was killed during the exchange of fire and clashes with Hamas terrorists.

Lior arrived at the Western Wall Plaza accompanied by Israel Police officers from the Rahat station, friends of her heroic father, and close family members. Lior and her family were warmly welcomed by the rabbi of the Western Wall and holy sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, and by the director of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, Mordechai (Suli) Eliav, who blessed and strengthened her on this emotional day.

One of the special moments of the event was when Lior and her family approached to light a memorial candle in memory of her father Roni, may his memory be a blessing, at the special memorial candle stand located in the Western Wall Plaza where candles are lit in memory of those killed in the Iron Swords War. They found Roni’s name among the names of the fallen.

At the end of the emotional ceremony, the Abuharon family toured the new route in the Western Wall Tunnels.

An Olive Leaf from Paradise – Parashat Noach

In Parashat Noach, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz interprets the dove’s olive leaf as a symbol of spiritual freedom — preferring the “bitter” sustenance from God over sweet dependence on man. Emerging from the ark into an empty yet liberating world, the dove embodies the yearning for self-reliance and divine trust. The message resonates today with the joy of those released from captivity — stepping once more into the paradise of freedom after deep suffering.

The Lesson of Cain – Parashat Bereshit

The story of Cain and Abel teaches that life is a series of choices between resentment and self-improvement. When we let go of jealousy and embrace gratitude, we rise above bitterness and help create a world filled with joy, kindness, and light.
