The strength of the Jewish people does not arise solely from strong individuals. Our primary strength lies in the fact that we are “like one person with one heart.” The entire Jewish people is one entity with different limbs, like a single body that has persisted for 4,000 years despite the “cells” within it changing. “Our strength is in our unity” is not just a slogan; it is a reality. As one person with one heart, we became such a people at the foot of Mount Sinai, and we reinforced this understanding three times a year when we would make the pilgrimage to our national home – Jerusalem. Even in exile, we strove to be united in our hearts, even if physically distant from one another in different lands. The direction of prayer from everywhere in the world toward Jerusalem always reminded us that we are one body, one entity.
Now, this unity has become even more palpable. Jews in the diaspora see our soldiers, fighting evil on the front lines, as representatives of the entire Jewish people. Our soldiers on the front lines also feel that they are fighting for the future and for the children of all of us, both in Israel and abroad. Our strength lies in our unity – and in our children, the next link in the chain of our generations. See these pure souls expressing our togetherness, as one person with one heart.
