Former Jewish NASA astronaut and professor of aeronautics at MIT, Jeffety Hoffman, who had gone to space taking with him a Torah scroll, a mezuza, a menora, and more, visited the Western Wall.
When asked where he feels higher – in space or at the Western Wall, Mr. Hoffman answered: “In one place, your body is higher, and in one place, your spirit is higher.”
The former astronaut described being in space flying over Israel and Jerusalem and being very moved by the connection to our roots, on the one hand, and the advanced technology, on the other.
Mr. Hoffman prayed in front of the Western Wall stones and was later very touched by the findings from the Second Temple period and the tour of the Great Bridge route in the Western Wall Tunnels.
