Latvian President Egils Levits and his wife came to visit and pray at the Western Wall immediately upon landing in Israel.
President Levits, who has Jewish roots, was very impressed by the visit and wrote in the Guest Book:

During the visit, Mayer met with the rabbi of the Western Wall and the holy sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, who thanked him for his steadfast support of the State of Israel and the Jewish people.
