Thousands Stream to the 2nd Traditional Birkat Kohanim (Priestly Blessing) at the Western Wall Plaza This Morning

Thousands came to the Western Wall Plaza beginning in the early-morning hours and participated in the 2nd traditional, festive Birkat Kohanim event that took place this morning (Thusrday) at the Western Wall Plaza with hundreds of kohanim from around Israel.

Birkat Kohanim took place in the presence of Chief Rabbi David Lau, Rabbi of the Western Wall and holy sites Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, Mayor of Jerusalem Mr Moshe Leon.

At the end of the prayers, Rabbi Lau and Rabbi Rabinowitz led prayers of “Acceptance of G-d’s Reign” and prayers for the welfare of the Jewish nation and the world.

The Western Wall Heritage Foundation rrequest that the public continues to abide by directions of the Health Ministry, the Israel Police, and the Western Wall ushers who will direct crowds throughout the holiday.

Interesting Facts

The Western Wall Plaza hosts approximately 60,000 people. It symbolizes the Jewish link to Jerusalem and serves as the synagogue closest to the remains of both Holy Temples.
The Western Wall's visible stones tell of its history from the time of the Holy Temples' ruin. The original Herodian stones are distinct from the others in size and in their unique borders.
The building style of "grading" used when layering the Western Wall's stones, teaches us that the Temple Mount's walls were not perpendicular but marginally sloping.
