Some 2,000 Maccabiah participants came to celebrate Bar and Bat Mitzvahs for those who did not celebrate. The participants were registered in advance in the Maccabiah organization and arrived at the Western Wall. Guides and instructors from the Western Wall welcomed the participants with a bottle of water, a unique pin of the Western Wall, an elegant personalized bar/bat mitzvah certificate and accompanied the participants to mark the exciting moment.
Prayers to the Western Wall from 140 countries: “For My House shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.”
Ahead of Rosh Hashanah, in keeping with tradition: Prayer notes placed between the stones of the Western Wall over the past six months have been removed and transferred for ritual burial.
