Tzedaka (Charity) Money from Holy Sites Divided for Kimcha DPascha (Charity for Passover)

As the Pesach (Passover) holiday approaches, one third of the money from the charity boxes at the Western Wall and holy sites were transferred for Pesach charity.
In accordance with the directives of the former Chief Rabbis, Rabbi Shapira and Rabbi Eliyahu, of blessed memory, the money from charity boxes at the Western Wall and holy sites are divided with two-thirds going to the development of the Western Wall and holy sites, and one-third to charity.
The chief rabbis of Israel, Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef, Rabbi David Lau, and the rabbi of the Western Wall and Holy Sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, earmarked this third to the Welfare Ministry to be divided among organizations which assist the needy.
The charity committee is composed of: the Chief Rabbis of Israel, Rabbi Yosef Shvinger  director of the National Center for the Development of Holy Sites, Rabbi Mordechai (Suli) Eliav  director of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, Mr. Yisrael Pat  Legal Advisor to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz  Rabbi of the Western Wall and Holy Sites.
The monies were transferred to the Welfare Ministry and will be added to the offices budget earmarked for helping needy families.
