The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, Augusto Santos Silva, began his visit on the Temple Mount and then descended to the Western Wall Plaza. Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, Rabbi of the Western Wall and Holy Sites, explained to the Minister that no excavations were being done by Israel under the Temple Mount. He also told him of the Jewish nations glorious history next to them remnants of the Temple.
The Foreign Minister noted that he was happy to visit the site and that he is very familiar with the history of the Jewish people. Museums were established in Portugal that commemorate the history of the Jewish nation from the days of the Spanish Expulsion, the Minister said after reciting a prayer.
