American actor, James Caan, visited the Western Wall Plaza this morning and was hosted by the Rabbi of the Western Wall and Holy Sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, and by the director of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, Mordechai (Suli) Eliav.
This is Caans first visit to Israel. He was accompanied by his son and was very moved by praying in front of the stones of the Wall where he mentioned the names of family members who were murdered in the Holocaust.
Caan told the Rabbi of his connection to Jewish heritage and of his close friendship with Rabbi Cunin, the Chabad rabbi in Los Angeles.
The visit here is the peak of my journey to Israel, said Caan. I knew in advance that visiting the remnant of the Temple would be the best part of my visit, but I did not realize to what extent.
After the prayer in front of the Western Wall stones, Caan toured in the Western Wall Tunnels and was shown new revelations discovered recently at the site of the Temple.
