The New York City Mayor concluded his historic visit with a significant statement at the Western Wall, emphasizing his commitment to Israel and the Jewish people: “I want to continue to have the title that means more to me than anything: I am your brother!”
As his term draws to a close and as part of his official visit to Israel, New York City Mayor Eric Adams arrived last night for a visit and prayer at the Western Wall.
The outgoing mayor was warmly received by the worshippers and visitors who were present at the Wall during his visit. During the visit, the mayor received an explanation about the importance of this holy site for the Jewish people as a source of prayer, hope, and longing throughout the generations. He was thanked for his unwavering support for the State of Israel and for his fight against antisemitism, and for choosing to conclude his term with a solidarity visit to Israel and to the Western Wall in Jerusalem.
During his visit to the Wall, Mayor Adams said: “I already visited here during my term, and when it ended I wanted to return here, to Israel, and to let you know that I served you as the mayor, but I want to continue to have the title that means more to me than anything: I am your brother. Thank you!”
He then wrote a personal note, which he placed between the stones of the Western Wall, and signed the guest book: “God is real, and life has shown us this. May the prayers from this Wall become the reality of life.”
At the end of the visit, Adams toured the new excavations in the Western Wall Tunnels where archaeological findings from the period of the destruction of the Temple were presented to him, and he toured the new Gateway to Heaven exhibit, recently opened to the public at the Western Wall.
