In the Presence of His Sister Who Survived Captivity: An Emotional Bar Mitzvah at the Western Wall

We were deeply moved to host the Levy family from Ra’anana at the Western Wall Plaza, who came to celebrate the Bar Mitzvah of Omri upon reaching the age of mitzvot.

A particularly powerful moment took place during the event, as standing beside the Bar Mitzvah boy was his sister, the heroic survivor of captivity, Naama Levy – a soldier and IDF lookout who was brutally abducted by Hamas terrorists from the Nahal Oz outpost on October 7. Naama was held captive by Hamas in the Gaza Strip for many long months until she returned to Israel following her release.

This was the first time since her return that Naama participated in a family event – and she did so at an especially emotional and symbolic moment, as her younger brother donned tefillin and was called to the Torah in front of the stones of the Western Wall.

During the ceremony, we offered heartfelt prayers for the return of all the hostages to their families, for the success of the IDF soldiers and security forces, and for peace and security for the State of Israel.
