As part of his official visit to Israel in preparation for the opening of the Israeli embassy in Zambia, the Zambian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Mulambo Haimbe, visited the Western Wall.
During the visit, the minister received a briefing from the Director of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, Mr. Mordechai (Suli) Eliav, about the significance of this holy site for the Jewish people — as a center of prayer, hope, and longing throughout the generations — and about its special meaning during the difficult times the people of Israel are currently facing. He expressed his gratitude for the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and Zambia.
At the conclusion of the visit, the minister offered a silent prayer beside the stones of the Western Wall, wrote a personal note, and placed it in the crevices between the stones of the Wall.
