As every year, today we mark together with the Ethiopian Jewish community the holiday of Sigd. Due to the Iron Swords war, the event is taking place in a limited format this year.
Nevertheless, we seek to join in the prayers of the same community that has dreamed for generations of the moment of return to Jerusalem, dedicating its soul for the sake of the Land of Israel and the preservation of the Jewish tradition.
“The fulfillment of the dream of the Ethiopian Jewish community tells the story of the entire Jewish people. Exiled from their land, we faced persecution, but we always swore to return here and build our lives. This year, the Sigd holiday, a holiday of prayer and hope, expresses an additional meaning—a plea to safeguard and rescue our brothers and sisters, the House of Israel, wherever they may be. A prayer to continue carrying with us the dream and to see it be fulfilled before our eyes.”
