Iranian Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi and his wife visited the Western Wall Plaza this morning (Tuesday). The visit was initiated by Minister of Intelligence Gila Gamliel.
The Crown Prince was greeted by the rabbi of the Western Wall and holy sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, and by the director of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, Mordechai (Suli) Eliav. They explained the significance of the Western Wall to the Jewish nation throughout the generations and the life of Muslims alongside Jews at the site.
The Crown Prince stood alongside the flag of the State of Israel in the center of the plaza along with hundreds of worshippers who stood during the siren marking a moment of silence in memory of those who perished in the Holocaust.
Rabbi Rabinowitz recited Psalms with the Crown Prince, and they prayed together for peace between Israel and Iran, and Arab countries and for world peace.
The Crown Prince was moved by the visit and signed the guest book, writing: “For peace, freedom, serenity, for human dignity and living together. I salute the people of Iran and Israel.”
Minister Gamliel remarked on the excitement of such a visit at the Western Wall, symbolizing peace and hope for the entire world.
The visit concluded with a tour of the new route in the Western Wall Tunnels.
