This morning, an emotional Bar Mitzvah celebration took place at the Western Wall Plaza for Eliyah Shlomo David, who was evacuated with his family from Sderot to Jerusalem due to the security situation in the south.

Upon hearing about the event, Israeli police officers immediately volunteered to help celebrate the Bar Mitzvah boy and his family, joining the Western Wall Heritage Foundation instructors who organized an exciting and joyful ceremony.

Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, Rabbi of the Western Wall, blessed the young boy, saying, “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever. May the joy you experienced today accompany you from now on, as it is written in the Book of Isaiah, ‘For you shall go out in joy.'”

At the end of the moving Bar Mitzvah ceremony, the parents expressed their gratitude, saying, “We want to say a big thank you. We are very excited. We did not expect to reach the Western Wall at this stage. We have no words to thank you!”

The message resonates today with the joy of those released from captivity — stepping once more into the paradise of freedom after deep suffering.
