Fourth Night of Chanukah Candle-Lighting at the Western Wall Plaza Broadcast on Huge Screen in Tel Aviv and Beer Sheva

"Spreading the Light"

The theme of the fourth night of Chanukah is “Spreading the Light.” Under the initiative of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, every evening, the Chanukah candle-lighting ceremony at the Western Wall Plaza is being projected onto huge screens at the Habima square in Tel Aviv and in municipal community centers around Beer Sheva.

This evening (Wednesday), the fourth Chanukah candle was lit in the presence of the chief rabbi of Jerusalem, Harishon LeZion Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar; the chief rabbi of Mexico, Rabbi Shlomo Tawil; MK Yoav Galant; MK Ohad Tal; director of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, Mordechai (Suli) Eliav, and the general public.

Chief rabbi of Jerusalem, Harishon LeZion Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar: “These candles are sacred. The light that is greater than the candles themselves, is the spiritual abundance that comes from heaven. This light is from the language of sight. By our gaze we draw holiness and purity for the whole year recalling the pure menorah that was lit in the Mikdash by the Cohen Hagadol.
Let us offer a prayer to the security forces and to all the people of Israel wherever they are. God has kept us in exile for thousands of years and now continues to keep us until the ultimate light comes soon in our days, Amen.”

MK Yoav Galant: “Chanukkah is the holiday of heroism. A lesson that the few can prevail over the many and win. A symbol of the vital need to perpetuate the heritage and traditions of Israel, just like Mattityahu and his sons. They made clear that believing in the righteousness of the path and the longing to return to the land of Israel is important and correct. What you see here is nothing less than a miracle. “Our feet were standing at your gates, Jerusalem.”

An Olive Leaf from Paradise – Parashat Noach

In Parashat Noach, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz interprets the dove’s olive leaf as a symbol of spiritual freedom — preferring the “bitter” sustenance from God over sweet dependence on man. Emerging from the ark into an empty yet liberating world, the dove embodies the yearning for self-reliance and divine trust. The message resonates today with the joy of those released from captivity — stepping once more into the paradise of freedom after deep suffering.

The Lesson of Cain – Parashat Bereshit
