About 20,000 people participated in this morning’s Birkat Kohanim (Priestly Blessing) at the Western Wall Plaza, at Shacharit and Mussaf.

During the service, there was a prayer of gratitude and for the welfare of the security forces.

This morning’s event took place in the presence of The Rabbi of the Western Wall and holy sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, Jerusalem Mayor Mr Moshe Leon, Former US Ambassador to Israel Mr David Friedman, MK Haim Biton, MK Michael Malchieli, MK Yinon Azulay, MK Moshe Arbel, MK Yoav ben Zur, MK Uriel Busso, MK Yitzchak Pindrus.

At the end of the prayer, there was a special service of kabbalat ol malchut shamayim (accepting the kingship of heaven), a prayer of gratitude and a prayer for the welfare of the security forces recited by Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz and Mayor Moshe Leon.

Rabbi of the Western Wall and holy sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz: “I bless the thousands who have come to the second Birkat Kohanim (Priestly Blessing), it testifies the deep connection of the people of Israel to the Western Wall and Jerusalem and the feeling that the public continue to come to the remnant of our Temple. In prayer that many thousands will continue to come to the Western Wall plaza throughout the holiday.”

 

Jerusalem Mayor, Moshe Leon: “For thousands of years, visitors have been coming up to Jerusalem on Passover and have been greeting happily. This year as well, we greet the pilgrims coming to Jerusalem for the sacred Birkat Kohanim (Priestly Blessing) at the Western Wall Plaza.  Each time anew, it is exciting to hear, see, and feel the holy atmosphere in our beautiful city.  The Jewish nation’s tradition and heritage are irrefutable.”

 

The Western Wall Heritage Foundation asks that the public continue to abide by the directions of the Israel Police and the ushers who direct crowds throughout the holiday for the benefit of all who come to the Western Wall.
