Connecting to the Chain of Generations

Bat Mitzvah at the Kotel

A Bat Mitzvah is a particularly exciting experience for every Jewish girl in the world. The opportunity to celebrate this special day at the Western Wall is unique and unforgettable.

The Western Wall Heritage Foundation invites you to celebrate your Bat Mitzvah at the Western Wall in a moving ceremony and in the special atmosphere of unity and holiness, all free of charge.

Your Ceremony

We will celebrate reaching the age of Mitzvoth and the passage into maturity with a moving and respectable ceremony.

A guide from The Western Wall Heritage Foundation will lead the ceremony and accompany you from your arrival at the Western Wall Plaza until the end of the ceremony. The ceremony lasts for about 30 minutes and is offered at no cost.

“The Light in The Heart” – A Family Ceremony and a special inscription for a Holocaust survivor

Sunday – Friday: 8:00-17:00

The meeting with the guide will be at the entrance to the Western Wall tunnels.

The ceremony will begin with the gathering of the family and guests in the upper plaza of the Western Wall, there your guide will explain the significance of the Western Wall and why to celebrate a Bat Mitzvah at the Western Wall.

We will say Tefilat HaDerech (Wayfarer’s Prayer in English) –

the parents will bless the young lady with the Blessing of the Children and she will bless her parents for the occasion.

They will then say a number of prayers and blessings appropriate to the event, followed by time for a private prayer and the placing of a note with a prayer into the Western Wall.

At the end, the young lady will receive a Bat Mitzvah certificate signed by the Western Wall Rabbi and will be photographed for the “I celebrated at the Wall” on the official website of the Western Wall.

Many families customarily present a specially designed Western Wall Bat Mitzvah necklace to the young lady during the “Shehechiyanu” blessing.
For those interested, one can be purchased at the cost is 130 NIS.

Celebrating a Bat Mitzvah in Israel, and especially at the Western Wall, is a very special event that you’ll never forget!

The Western Wall Heritage Foundation is happy to provide various add-on options to the Bat Mitzvah ceremony at additional cost.
